Review of My Medical Reports
My measurements since 2021 and what my neurologist wrote about my therapies in May 2026.

My Measurements 2021 to 2026
Since January 2021 I have regularly measured my own mobility with simple hand tests, and since September 2022 I have also measured my tremor with the Tremipen. On top of that come the measurements taken by my neurologists. I show all the values here, including the ones that don't look so good. The charts show quarterly averages from many individual measurements.

MDS-UPDRS Part III: 18 points (2021), 14 (2024), 15 (2025). According to studies, the average course, mostly on medication, rises by 2 to 3 points per year. In 2025 my score was 11 to 15 points below that.

Turning the hand 20 times: I turn my hand twenty times as fast as I can and time it. My left hand, which has been affected from the start, got much faster until 2023, then slower again until early 2025, and since then it has been about where it was in 2021. My right hand is much better than in 2021, but it got noticeably slower in the second quarter of 2026.

Finger tapping: My left hand has improved almost continuously over the years. My right hand got better in a sudden jump at the end of 2021. Since 2024 it has slowly been getting a little slower again, but it is still clearly below the 2021 value.

Tremipen: The Tremipen is a small measuring device shaped like a pen. It measures how much my hand shakes, at rest and held out. Roughly, up to about 16 mG means "no tremor", 16 to 41 mG means "slight trembling", and 41 to 129 mG means "mild trembling". All my quarterly averages fall in the "no tremor" or "slight" levels. The resting tremor on the left was stable at 13 to 15 mG from 2024 to the end of 2025. Since early 2026 it has been rising from quarter to quarter, most recently to around 20 mG.
Self-measurements are not scientific measurements. How I feel that day, the time of day, stress and temperature all play a big role. But over years and many hundreds of measurements, they show me where I stand. The values for 2026 run up to September 20.
What My Neurologist Wrote in May 2026
I have been a patient of Dr. Gisela de Abos y Padilla, a specialist in neurology in Mannheim, since January 2021. She follows my path critically and still supportively. On May 25, 2026, she summarized my course and commented on my therapies:
- Overall assessment: "In summary, a mild course without progression since 2021 without dopaminergic medication." Whether that is due to my therapies or to a naturally favorable course cannot be said with certainty for an individual case. I respect that.
- Doxycycline: she prescribed it to me in a low dose for mild rosacea.
- Fexofenadine: As an approved, proven and well-tolerated drug, a treatment "can certainly be recommended".
- Lithium: As expected at my dose, the level was normal. The study situation for Parkinson's is not yet clear.
- N-acetyl-L-leucine: Evidence is still lacking for people whose Parkinson's has already broken out. The impressive cases involved the early, prodromal stage.
- Psilocybin: only now and then, not daily, and never together with 5-HTP.
- In general: Vitamin B6 in high doses can damage the nerves. The MIND diet did best in studies on prevention. Exercise remains the most important single measure. To document my tremor, she prescribed me an app with a smartwatch.
She doesn't just tell me what I want to hear. She points out risks, names gaps in knowledge and corrects me where needed. That is exactly the kind of support I wish for everyone.
